Path Rash

I've walked upon this path so long.
I've danced and sang to many a song.

When I look back all I can see
is that it's been quite a journey.

One full of joys and miseries.
Some even brought me to my knees.

I can be flowerlike; soft, sweet,
bright, strong and sturdy on my feet.

But I've been trampled, I've been beat
like a flower under one's feet.

I'm badly broken, bruised and sore
but I still need love...even more!

Will someone take my hand gently
walk together, this path, with me?

What's up ahead, I do not know.
But I want to let my fears go

and be able to skip along,
at peace, with melancholy song.

I’m On My Way

Many times I have felt you near.
I can't see you but I can hear.

You whispering to me softly,
'I'm on my way, please wait for me.'

I've walked this road, humming a song,
while you on another; so long.

Of where mine leads I have lost site.
But it was you I found one night.

When I again opened my eyes.
It was then when I realized.

I felt lonelier than before.
Wanting to be loved even more.

You're on your road and I'm on mine.
Though our roads meet from time to time.

Still we are on our paths alone.
Current destinations unknown.

Searching for-we meet in the night.
Both with longing to hold on tight.

To the one we believe does care.
To one who has always been there.

Down our own path we could begin.
Never to be alone again.

Until then, I will feel you near.
I can't see you but I can hear.

You whispering to me softly,
'I'm on my way, please wait for me.'
